It comes down to Fear
The main reason people become Christian is because of fear. If you go to google and type in "Christian" and "Hell", you will pretty much get the same message from the various websites. Accept Christ, or be tortured for eternity. It's a frightening thought isn't it? It's hard to imagine the people I love or anyone in general being tortured to complete terror for eternity. Isn't this why we have these discussions about Athiesm and religion? We want to know what is going to happen to us for eternity. Could you imagine what the world would be like if we could prove what happened to people after they died? We'd either all be talking about hell all the time or we would not talk about it at all. I found this website from Dr. Maurice Rawlings about how these men died and went to hell. These men came back and their stories are pretty convincing. Here's a link to em if you want to see it. http://almightywind.com/hell/testimonies.htm I'm interested to know how others have dealt with the fear issue which Christianity proclaims. I must admit, it's fear which still has me believing in God. |

If you go to bed at the end of a normal day and have a bad dream what is that called? A nightmare. If you have an accident of some kind and while unconcious have a bad dream, what is that called? A near death experience. They are the same thing, but if you have a nightmare while almost dying people will believe you have had some kind of supernatural experience. Nope. Just a combination of drugs administered by the hospital, fear of facing your own mortality and a dream that if you had experienced on any other night you would have called what it is....a nightmare. There is no hell. You have nothing to fear except living the rest of your life afraid of a fairy tale. |

My point was just that Christianity is based on fear. It's pretty clear when hearing hellfire preaching on the radio or internet or whatever. I think fear is what has allowed religion to stay around so long. Man has always been obsessed with living forever and I think it feeds into the concept of the afterlife. |

Hey Alex, That is the bottom line when it comes to faith and religious beliefs. Believers don't want to accept the fact that life must come to an end. Mankind has re-created many forms of an afterlife and thousands of gods to go along with it. All of this is just to deal with the fears of facing life's mortality. Those primitive people who invented these religions had no knowledge of the natural laws and they feared this lack of knowing. They often embellished this life with stories of great mystery and higher meanings. It made it easier to cope with the hardships and the sufferings they faced for living in an ancient world. It helped them carry on. If they knew or were so sure of what happened upon death, wouldn't they all have wanted to die immediately upon birth. Guess that is why they had to make up that disclaimer about not going to heaven if you commit suicide. lol...gotta read the fine print. If all these religious people are so convinced there is an afterlife, then why do they cry at funerals? Wouldn't you think that they would throw a huge liberation party and celebrate the beautiful new life the dead person is supposed to be having some place else. I mean, they are the ones who keep claiming that their heaven is such a better place. Another thing. If they are so sure of their faith, then why don't they go to a preacher instead of a doctor when they are really sick or if their quality of life is threatened by illness. My guess is that deep down inside, they know which of these two options gives them a better chance at continuing this life here on this earth. I mean...If they were so sure there was another life to be lived after this one is over...why do believers run to get help to keep them from dying. If they had cancer, why fight it with science remedies if you know that your death could deliver you up to a la-la land of eternal bliss. Wouldn't everyone of those believers be happy to have cancer, or any other terminal disease because it is their one way ticket to heaven. Of course they don't go to the preacher and they fight to save their one and only life because deep down inside, they are not convinced they are goin' anywhere. The alleged Jesus apparently suffered the same confusion at the moment of his death where he yells up to the sky; "My god, My god, why hast thou forsaken me!" Now that does not sound like someone who is convinced by their own beliefs. If anything, that statement makes him sound like a regular mortal person that has doubts about religion. I thought he was supposed to be all knowing too though? Never mind anyway, it is all myth. "We fear things in proportion to our ignorance of them." ~TITUS LIVIUS Late! |

THE reason i took the time to talk about this type concern. is that,if you chose to follow the christ because of going to hell, you're probably gonna go there any way,"because of fear" what the father is looking for is a people who will love him and obey him honor him,and call upon him out of a pure heart. and turn from their sinful ways, then he makes a promise to you, HE SAYS WHILE YOU ARE CALLING I WILL ANSWER, AND SAY HERE AM I, AND I SHALL BE YOUR GOD AND YOU SHALL BE MY PEOPLE, AND I SHALL WALK IN THEE AND TALK IN THEE.YES HELL IS A REALITY,I ALSO DIED AND WENT TO HELL,BUT I SERVE THE ALMIGHTY OUT OF LOVE AND ADORATION,HUMBLE HUMILITY, ALL IN THE FEAR OF GOD, AND HIS GREAT AND AWSOM AND PREVAILING POWER AND MIGHT,WHO IS AWHEEL IN THE MIDDLE OF A WHEEL, WHO RIDES IN THE MIST OF THE WHIRLWINDS AND PREVAILS AS THE GREAT "I AM" WITH NO BEGINNING AND NO ENDING BUT WAS PLEASED TO CREATE MAN IN HIS OWN IMAGE.NOW ALL THIS AND MORE IS WHY WE ARE CHRISTIANS, AND YES MANY HAS SEEN A GLEMSE OF THE PLACE CREATED ONLY FOR SATAN OR LUCIFER, AND HIS HORDS AND THOSE WHO WORSHIP THE BEAST, MY ADVISE IF ANY ,IS JUST TO FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR CREATOR AND OBEY HIS WORD, AND IN DOING SO YOU WILL MISS HELL ANYWAY, AND BE "BRIDE" READY, AT THE SOUND OT THE TRUMPET OF HIS "RETURN"> --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- Replying to: The main reason people become Christian is because of fear.
