God's Image?
In regards to your connundrum about how God could not have an image before creation because: 1) there is no medium to contrast it and 2) there was nobody to view His Image... The answer comes in Genesis 1:26. God says, "Let us make man in our own image, after our own likeness..." Before God created the universe, he already lived in the perfect Community of Father, Son and Holy Spirit (3 persons of 1 essence). Moreover the Christian doctrine of the Triune God debunks the overly simplistic idea of God sitting around with absolutely nothing to do before creation. I'm hesitant to say what Father, Son and Spirit may have done before creation, because that reinforces the notion that God, like a mortal man, has to be be kept occupied and creation was just His way of entertaining himself. I will say this, before creation the Father certainly had a perfect love for the Son and the Son for the Father. |

So how is the idea of God sitting around with nothing to do "over simplistic"? THERE WAS NOTHING TO DO! As for having the perfect love for each other, I would love to hear you describe that perfect love set in a context of nothing. Did he provide for his son? No, nothing to provide and nothing needed. did he protect his son? No, nothing to fear or be protected from. Did he teach his son? No, son already knew everything. Explain your assertion that God's was a perfect love please. I don't get it. The one thing god did do for his son before creation (if the bible were true)was plan to sacrifice him for the sins of lesser beings so that the father would be voluntarily praised by those lesser beings. A real picture of perfect love eh? |

with respect pres, it never ceases to amaze and frustrate me to see otherwise rational intelligent people waisting that perfectly good intelligence in an endless attempt to rationalize the irrational. again with respect my friend i would suggest that you consider the incredably simple fact that every single bit of evidence for the existance of your super being can be and is applied with perfectly equal validity to the islamic god, the hindu god, all the gods past & present. please pres, just give it a tiny bit of rational thought. these relegions my friend, (your own and all the others) are not just harmless superstitions my friend. while you enjoy the comfort & companionship of the people who share the belief in your own brand of christianity, people are KILLING EACH OTHER OVER THEM. always have, always will as long as religion exists. your catholics killing prodestants & vice versa. the war in iraq. geez man read your history, your bible. billions like yourself believe pres. blind faith. ain't that the word. why? cause nonbelievers have been systematicly eliminated since we evolved the intelligence to understand the concept of death & invented the first gods so they didn't have to face oblivian. the peace, brotherly love, equality for all on the planet, all these wonderful things your religions give lip service to are possible my friend. but only when we out grow the superstitions. if they don't destroy us all as your own & the islimic religions predict. just think about it a little pres. all i ask. |

I think that's man's problem. His deceitful, disobedient heart is so hardened with hate that he cannot see the truth. We were all there at some point but eventually some of us got tired of living a life full of dissapointment and emptiness. God can fulfill that void deep within our souls. Most people who try to say the bible is full of errors have never even took the time to read it. How can you throw something out until you've read it and followed it's instructions? If you have read the bible and truly tried to seek God you would never turn from him or his word. The other thing that gets me is the fact that people are so quick to blame all the bad things that happen on God and never give him credit for the good things. When good things happen it's because of their own doing. I don't mean to rant I just want to encourage people have something valid to back up their claims. Seeking God's guidance can only make your life better and truly fulfill that longing for more. |

Uh, if you had taken the time to read even a little of this site you would have known that I was a Bible college student preparing for the ministry at one point. Yes I have read the Bible. It is the Bible itself that caused me to first doubt. I have posted on my site in black and white what the problems with the Bible are. You are as welcome as anyone else to read it and show me where I am wrong. |

When I said "most people", I meant most people. Most means a majority but not all. I wasn't referring to this site but to people in general. People just cannot get a grip on the fact that they don't know everything and that an explanation does not exist for everything. It goes back to Satan's brilliant idea of thinking he was greater than God. That's what many people think and will regret their decisions when judgement comes upon them. The bottom line is people don't want to have self-control and don't want to have to answer to anyone but themselves. I have not been a Christian all my life so I know how it is. I once called myself an atheist as well until I was so broken down that I couldn't do anything but look up. I pray that many will see the error of their ways and that God will open their hearts. God Bless!!

Oh, you're one of those "crutch" christians. You turned to god when you were so "broke down you couldn't do anything but look up". I guess when you are desperate you will try anything. Myself, I've never been so desperate as to avoid the truth and indulge the fantasy. Truth is not subject to your personal situation. |

If there are some things that cannot be explained, then they cannot be explained. Any attempt to explain them is mere noise. |
