I am a direct descendent of Reuben Morey, a Revolutionary who fought under George Washington at the Battle of Monmouth, New Jersey.

Reuben MOREY (Ephraim5, John4, George3, George2, George1). Born on 23 Jun 1738 in Leicester, Worcester Co., MA. Died on 28 Jun 1778 in Monmouth, Monmouth Co., NJ. Service: Rev. War. Killed in battle of Monmouth.

It is not clear when exactly George1 came to the American Colonies or where he came from. Perhaps that information is lost forever... Only recently did I learn that Morey is a variation of Murray. Now I can find my tartan!
