Re: INTERMEDIATE ONE STEPS

Sorry, but I gotta say it:

One steps = USELESS. In my opinion they are a waste of time.

Re: INTERMEDIATE ONE STEPS

Basic One Steps and Intermediate One Steps, are a great building block for the beginning student. These techniques help students with many of the basic movements in Tang Soo Do, side stepping, blocking, striking, body positioning to name a few.

Re: Re: INTERMEDIATE ONE STEPS

I agree. One step helps teach distance, timing, control, among other things. If it is used as a training tool, they are great. Not really useful for actual self defense as they are.

Re: INTERMEDIATE ONE STEPS

Intermediate One Steps build upon the foundation that the Basic One Steps began. Remember many people who start MA have never had a person stand in front of them and throw a punch or Kick, and many adults that begin havn't done much more than walk and maybe climb some steps for quite a while, so just the act of stepping of to the side with the right foot and raising the left arm to block is foreign to them. These are excersizes teach coordination, positioning, footwork, timing, they reinforce and place basic techniques in a structured defend and attack scenario that is comfortable to a beginner. I don't suggest going out and using say #7 intermediate by the book against anyone, but hey under the right conditions, why not?
