I am also someone who grew up with this. I have 3 brothers and sisters and none of them have it nor do either 1 of my parents. Growing up i was involved in every sport i could but there was always something wrong and i didnt know what. I didnt know till i was 17 when i was doing construction and my muscles gave out on me and i fell and broke my neck and back and had a Traumatic Brain Injury which really changed my life i am now 24 and ive had to go threw alot of stuff emotional physically.. because of it if you need nething let me know

Stay away from dilantin I had an allergic reaction to that medicine when I was first diagnosed. I got severe rashes, swelling and sensitive to lights it was a nightmare. Of course that might not happen for you, but I did read it can cause gum problems. I take acetazolamide every day for myotonia but I think even that has a warning for pregnancy.
