I've never had any pain when I sneeze but I did used to lock up enough to where I had a plan that I would pull over if I felt one coming on while driving. The worst was successions of sneezes.
Next time you have to sneeze try blowing your nose to dislodge any irritants. That's generally what your body is trying to get you to do when you sneeze. Sometimes I find pinching my nostrils closed will also eliminate the urge to sneeze.
The intercostal muscles (between the ribs) and the diaphragm can be quite severely affectd by myotonia, so sneezing and coughing can really get us. If your eyelids "stick" closed after a sneeze then you're really in trouble when you're driving!
I always put on sunglasses and take an antihistamine if I'm going out in bright light or allergy season.
my back and abdomanal muscles and arm pits hurt and i'm paralyzed for about 10 seconds...the instant i feel a sneeze coming on i pinch and rub my nose then inhale trough it hard works for me but you gotta rub it more sometimes
I take antihystemeines to help with the pollen overload and whilst on mexitil I could handle the sneezing but now that I've finished my last dose I'm dreading the approaching summer.
If I get caught out by a sneeze I can expect my abdominal muscles to lock up painfully, the muscles across my back go tense, and those over my ribcage too. I've had some bad muscle tears as a result of sneezing and I've even known my legs to lock up too!
My whole body goes stiff even my face and i don't breath glad it don't last but 10 seconds or so i have pulled back and abdomen muscles coughing sneezing but throwing up over a period of time is the worst
Just getting over a chest cold been coughing for three days hard to stand up after sitting or stand up straight period because my abdomen chest and shoulders don't release 20 seconds or more....but really it's just another day dealing with this crap...there are people alot worse off than me i figure.
