Is a cardiologist overseeing your treatment with the mexiletine or is it your primary care doctor? Did you have a cardiac workup first? I ask because mexiletine is first and foremost a heart medication and can cause heart problems as well if not monitored correctly. Some primary care physicians don't realize this and just prescribe it upon the request of their patient, because they're not familiar with MC or the mexiletine treatment.
