Medicament Becker

Do any medicines that reduce stiffness? In Spain the Mexitil is prohibited. But I wonder what drugs are being used in the U.S. for treatment of myotonia of Becker. Thanks for the information.

Re: Medicament Becker

Welcome!

Here are the generic names of the other medications used to treat myotonia. They should all be available in Spain:

Flecainide
Acetazolamide
Phenytoin
Qunine Sulfate

Some doctors prescribe carbamazepine. I don't recommend it. I would probably suggest the acetazolamide first...it seems to have the fewest side effects. The trade name is Diamox. It does make carbonated beverages like Coke taste really weird when you first start taking it :-)
