Hot or Cold

I am still tryng to figure this one out myself, but am curious if there are others with the same results.

I know some here do better when it is warm or hot outside. I am screwed if the temps get over 80F/26.7C even more if it is humid. Give me a 60-70F (16-21C) degree day any time of the year and I run at nearly 100% with my meds. Sweat spells doom for me, but winter's cold at 26F/-3.7C is perfectly fine other than it being cold and dry.

So what is it for you? Anyone else out there run better cold than hot?

Re: Hot or Cold

I will tell you Humidity does not help my myotonia but for sure cold weather does make it much worse. So in general I would say my myotonia is "normal" when the weather is okay or hot but worse when its cold. Cold meaning anything below 40 degrees.

From my observation these are the scenarios where my myotonia gets worse:

Cold Weather
When I'm hungry
When I sleep too much
Social situations where I feel my myotonia will be exposed

Type of Myotonia: Unsure (Beckers or Thompsens)

Country: USA

Re: Hot or Cold

I can't unstiffen if it's too cold, so no. Even a chilly morning is bad.

If it's too hot, though, I'm working so very hard that I can overheat more easily than other people. So that's bad, too. My muscles are just doing more work for the same result.

Type of Myotonia: Thomsen's
