Received an invitation to skydive with some friends... Not sure if my myotonia will be getting involved in this experience given the high levels of adrenaline to be expected
I was never a regular at amusement parks as a child, but I plan on visiting one soon just to give it a try and analyze my body's reactions
Does any one have any experience with roller coaster rides, bungee jumping, skydiving or any other similar activity's effect on myotonia?
Sounds like fun! I was always too afraid of heights to attempt anything like that, but if you can handle the adrenaline and the resulting stiffness, go for it :-)
The only issue I can see is either getting too stiff to pull the cord when you should or landing too hard because your legs are really stiff and you can't roll. If you're jumping with someone (tandem) that shouldn't be as much of a concern. It helps if you can keep your legs moving (I do that on ski lifts) but the people around you don't usually appreciate it.

Very jerky rides like certain roller coasters tend to trigger or worsen my myotonia. Some of it is nerves, and some of it is percussion myotonia. However I've spoken with others with MC who love roller coasters and don't have a problem with them, so I think for the most part it boils down to how your central nervous system interprets the experience.
I recall flying in a C130 once and I was sitting near the parachutes. Looking out the window, I decided, if the airplane was about to go down, I would have no problem grabbing one of those parachutes and jumping. That was before I started to have some height related vertigo problems though.
