Re: Exersize

Paige, there are two types of exercise. One is to strengthen and tone muscles (anaerobic) and the other is to improve your cardiovascular system (aerobic). Because we deplete glycogen so quickly the anaerobic type of exercise is very hard for us. It burns, damages muscle cells and causes pain and cramping afterward. But it's like a gate and to get to the aerobic cycle you have to go through the anaerobic gate. So you have to deplete all your stored glycogen which may take 3-5 minutes (which can be very uncomfortable).

If you're doing both PE class and horseback riding you're probably getting plenty of exercise. I would not tax the muscles any more than you have to in order to stay in fairly good shape.

You might want to try taking Acetyl-L-Carnitine (250-500 mg per day). It helps me a great deal with stamina and really diminishes the stiffness after exercise. It may not work for everyone, but athletes use it all the time for the same reason.
