Muscle fatigue and dizziness

Ive been getting dizzy spells where I feel like I'm going to pass out and then just have no energy afterwards. Its like that feeling after you've done too much sport and haven't eaten/drunk enough but the difference is that I'm not doing anymore exercise than usual and my diet hasn't changed. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem too or knows what it could be? Its like a muscle weakness where I have to consciously move my muscles.

Thanks in advance, Philippa

(also I take Flecainide twice a day for the myotonia and have been for nearly 6 years)

Re: Muscle fatigue and dizziness

Philippa,

Those are definitely symptoms associated with Flecainide. If your dose is still the same, then there may be something else affecting you like heat. Since Flecainide can lower potassium levels (which causes weakness) you may be losing more than normal through sweat or some other factor.

You might want to try drinking some juice or eating fruit when you feel that way and see if it helps. Getting a little extra salt might be beneficial, too. One of the best electrolyte fixes is watermelon with a little salt sprinkled on it :-)
