Re: why can xa2 take lr44 or sr44, while the xa can not???

The XA is a little sensitive to current. Alkalines have two variations potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide electrolyte. The Ampere-Hours capacities are the same but one has a higher intermittent current (but the voltage still in spec) so can mess up sensitive equipment.

Re: why can xa2 take lr44 or sr44, while the xa can not???

Having worked in the photo. retail trade, I'm sure the coding on the batteries indicated the chemical composition...

To my knowledge, the SR-44 is/was a silver-oxide item and the LR44 is/was the alkaline equivalent; the silver-oxide versions always seemed to last longer, irrespective of what equipment they were used in...

As far as I'm aware, BOTH types of battery could be used in any of the XA-series that would entertain them...

Hope this helps...
