I am a health and physical education teacher from New Jersey. We are fortunate enough to have a law requiring each student to participate in a minimum of 150 minutes on physical education a week. I am curious to know if there are any other states that have a minimum requirement of students to participate in physical education per week.
I am in NYS:
K-3 everyday for 120 minutes a week.
4-6 meet at least 3 times a week for 120 minutes.
7-12 meets every other day for 120 a week
(3 times a week for a semester and 2 times for a semester) Basically in 2 weeks - 5 classes.
We are one of the few Districts in NY that meets the mandate. We are very lucky to have a lot of support. Our K-3 meet 30 minutes everyday. and have a 45 minute health class every 6 days.
