What are some different ways that you have done field day?

I have done field day a variety of ways but the most successful field days are field days that the students create. I hold an optional "contest" in each class where students can submit games they would like to play on field day. They can be a game we have played in the past or a game they create on their own. The games are submitted using google forms. Once all the games are submitted I will review them and play them in class. The class will then vote and the game chosen will represent their class for field day. I will have some classes with a lot of submissions and some without any. I will use the non-chosen games for either extra stations or classes without any.

I will have signs with the game name, class, and students that created it on the sign. The kids really look forward to playing their game as well as their friends.
