Google Classroom

Last week, my entire PE department got to attend the OAHPERD state convention. With all PE teachers out of the building, we did not feel comfortable with subs running the gyms, not to mention that they don't have keys to equipment rooms/locker rooms. Anyways, we created assignments for the students to complete on Google Classroom. Many of the students already know how to use Google Classroom through their core subjects, so it went very smoothly. We had make a Google Slide Show in our google drives, shared it with each other, and then posted the assignment in our Google Classrooms for each period. The assignment was to select from various Sports Science videos, watch the video using earbuds, and then complete a written critique of that video. What a success!! The kids liked it and we could literally see the assignments being done on our iPhones while sitting in the PE conference. No paper whatsoever...all online. We plan on using Google Classroom in PE a lot now.

Re: Google Classroom

We have started using google classroom as well. It is a great way to have students look up information, do assignments, and to post announcements. Announcements could include information on upcoming classes, different clothing needs for outside/inside activities, reminders for assessments. Assignments can be graded online with grades posted to the students in quicker than paper and pencil.

Re: Google Classroom

Us too. In my opinion, one of the best features of Google Classroom is the ability for students to remotely simultaneously collaborate on an assignment. As an instructor I can help a student from wherever and give them instant feedback as they are working.

Re: Google Classroom

Amie.
This is the first year we used Google Classroom. As a department we use it for when we are absent or for when students are medically excused for PE for three days or more. I like your lesson about using videos to do a written assignment. My department has been using articles that we post or the student researches their own article. I am going to try the video clips next school.

Thanks for the idea...
