That answers my question about whether or not to continue to buy Christmas pumpers--the answer is a loud and clear NO! The tradition truly ended last year when they skipped the release. Now they come back with an actual department. There are not enough departments to replicate year after year that have a name that has a Christmas theme. Now if they resort back to generic green/red Christmas pumpers, I still am less likely to buy because of the gap in the series. It's unfortunate b/c those original (Christmas pumpers) were never going come under scrutiny about accuracy, etc., b/c they were generic. They were just something nice to have.
I am glad they stopped doing ornaments, those were nothing special although the Mack CF lights were pretty unique.
The organge truck is nice, but in the interest of space (and money around the holidays), I'll pass.

Got to agree. The Xmas ones that I have were special, but I won't waste any $$$ on this year. As for the orange Quantum, just another repaint. Guess I can save my money for some other companies model.
I've got a little different perspective on the Christmas rig. The previous Christmas release didn't do a thing for me. I really like the looks of the Santa Claus, IN piece, however, and the fact that it is a real vehicle so it will be the first Christmas piece in my collection. To each his own, I guess.
I think the Santa Claus Dash looks great! The new cab mold replicating the old Dash enclosed cab design of the early 1990's came out nice. Finally, something new! And isn't that what most of us wanted from Code 3, something new?
I'm surprised no one has remarked about this being a new mold. Critisism is being directed at it by a few so far because it's not the traditional generic red and green rig. Sure, Code 3 isn't going to be able to replicate a prototypical Christmas-themed rig every year, but it's cool that this year they were able to. Personnally I don't like the generic red and green Christmas rigs, and don't have any, but I can understand the dismay for those who do.
I am very surprised by the new "old" dash mold, it looks good. However, I have never seen one with the windows in the raised roof. Even "dasher" doesn't have them. I may buy it but not right away, if it was truly correct to the 1:1 engine I might but it to use as a kitbash base

Arnie Rubin?
In all seriousness I may buy one, not because it's Santa Claus F.D. ,but because it's a simple, slightly older, no frills rig meant to work, no bells no whsitles, and sometimes thats a good thing.
I like the christmas rig, at least this rig is from a real department. Code 3 can keep making trucks for the nex two years for with a christmas theme because there is also North Pole, AK and Christmastown, MN. There are 2 other real departments. Do you guys know of any other departments with a christmas theme?
