I picked up a tanker at a sale yesterday and am curious if its a Fire Rig. Says SAPEURS POMPIERS on tank. I am thinking that Pompiers is Pumpers? What is the Sapeurs? Thanks. Dick Logan

Re: Help with French translation

In French, SAPEUR POMPIER just mean FIRE FIGHTER (a "sapeur" was a soldier armed with an axe)

Re: Help with French translation

Funny thing french, the one word of "soap" translates thus,
"NON, NON, non, je crois que j'ai eu l'année dernière un lavage, si pas, c'était definately l'année avant, et égal alors je n'ai pas eu besoin de lui".

Re: Help with French translation

Well that's enough for anyone to reduce using it..

Re: Help with French translation

We still use the word "sappers" in English for military engineers, and the "sappers who pump" are indeed technically part of the French army.
