I will be moving across the country very soon
from Buffalo NY to Phoenix AZ. Any idea's how to move & pack about 500+ Code 3 models that were out of the package and were in display cases & curios etc.. with out having them get damaged and taking the least amount of space in the long distance moving Semi ? Did any one have good or bad experences moving their collection with long distance movers ?
Thanks
Mike
The bubble wrap is key. I drove a collection down the east coast in 18 gallon Rubber Maid totes. I did a couple of layers--3 actually. Between each layer of bubble wrapped trucks was a healthy layer of styro peanuts. All in all, aside from a few trucks losing mirrors--which were easily reattached, the collection did well.
It's funny, but you don't realize how much you have until you actually pack it all up. Moving couches, mattresses, etc is a piece of cake compared to setting up your new display.
I've used Foam found at fabric stores when moving loose models with great success, I used 3-4" thick foam and just cut holes where each piece would go. then place the model and top with a slice of the piece left from the original cut. I've moved my collection twice now with this method with no damage.
Good luck.
