Backfire

Has an emergency vehicle ever backfired?? I have never heard such an incident happen.

Re: Backfire

A volunteer company I used to run with had a 1960 Mack C cab pumper with a gasoline motor, and in it's last few years of service, it would backfire quite regularly.

Re: Backfire

Our 1972 Ford had a gas engine we could get to backfire quite often and occasionally blow flames with the "right" driver.

Most now wouldn't because of the diesel engines and engine management systems.

Re: Backfire

Man just shut the engine down in gear for a 30 seconds or more downhill. get that raw gas in the system and then turn back on and BOOM. Did that many of time in my dads old Nash. One time blew the muffler right off. Needless to say dad was not a happy camper that day
