Ok.....they supposedly paid attention to every detail, so here's a question--the headlamps. It looks like they used the Backdraft Truck 45 updated headlamps. A 70's Mack would have had the single lamp, not a double light configuration. Am I wrong? Also, I'm sure this is an accurate detail--the truck had 2 booster reels? So did it have a pump? Strange model....and btw, not worth $89.99 for a repaint with a booster reel added....
I'm not happy that they used that 'refurb' front, either. The Mack did have a pump when originally delivered, but was removed shortly after in it's service life
They should have made it Truck 5 with the round head lights. truck 5 was quartered with Engine 18 which would have made a nice pair. I told Dunkel that as did I his "Chicago Firefighter and Historian". I also think by the time Truck 15 got it the boosters were removed. The hose reels were supplied by a power take off pump. And $90???? Give me a break.
The molded plastic hose reels look like...well...molded plastic hose reels. CHEAP. And as already said, the headlights are wrong. $90.00?...I think not.
Perhaps if JD had opened the workshop to non-members he may have been advised by many collectors that corrections were needed on the prototype. Too late now.
Over priced flop / inacurate repaint = 90X$1500, lack of respect for your collectors = many former enthusiastic fans lost to other diecast companies, not knowing how to attract new / retain old Code 3 collectors = you can't even put a price on it, lift the ban on giving collectors information about new upcoming molds / models...priceless
AS CODE 3 COMES TO A END THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE UP LOSS IN SALES WITH INCREASES IN PRICES.I WILL PASS ON THIS ONE ,AND WAIT TILL THEY RELEASE THE 900 SERIES ALF TILLER THEY PROMISED US MANY YEARS AGO
I wonder how much longer code 3 can stay in business making this crap. and yet they have the
gall to charge 90 bucks for a repaint and JD calls
this a new release?
If you look at the What's new page today, they have a pic of the actual rig--which, as we suspected, had the single, oval headlight configuration. The model, unless these are pre-pro only photos, has the updated headlights like Ladder 46 in Backdraft.
