I am surprised it took to the end of the Code 3 run before we saw knock offs of their models. But they have come. And now with the end of Code 3, they are blatant copies.
Amercom is a subscription magazine much like the Del Prado, Fabbri. Altaya and others in Europe. So far everything is from Poland on the releases.
The models are quite the bang for the buck. Models are in the $13 range and with shipping they come to about $21. Quality is good. Really good if you do not place them next to a Code 3. I would put the overall design on par with what we saw from Code 3 in the first couple of years. The models appear to be 3D scanned and then modeled off the scans without disassembly. So things on the Code 3 like the lights, that were separate parts are relief with printing.
Here is a Squad 61
And with the Code 3. You can see the detail differences and the quality of the printing.
It is also much lighter.
Here is an E-One rescue
Note the photo is of the Pierce. Doh
Had Code 3 never come out, collectors would be going bat guano crazy for these. But since they are copies, many are staying away. Do not. They look just as good from 3 feet. I hope we see the Freightliner ambulances make an appearance along with the E-One Titan
I've noticed for some time that Amercom also is doing a series of international police cars. One of the models is a copy of J Collection's Hungarian Rendorseg Nissan 350, only less expensive. Others duplicate the original Hongwell series of international police cars that first appeared in Italy several years ago as a subscription (but without a magazine), most of which also were later released under Hongwell's Cararama brand. All of these have magazines with them. I haven't bought any because I have all of the original models, but I'd be interested to know what the magazines are like.
So far eBay is the only place in the US I know you can get them. But there are several sellers on there with them all for about the same price.
Dick, I did not get any magazines with any of the fire or helicopters. I saw both the police and taxi series as well. But I am really trying to limit the amount of "project" cars I get. The attic is getting quite full of to do items. And my time is getting less available to do anything.
