Re: Fine Training

James-
Remind me what the cost of the flat hone attachment is for the excellent machine
I've purchased.
I understand the clipper wheel (14 inch) is $400. Will the knurled knob that comes
with the machine hold it or is there another?
Thanks.
Greg

Re: Fine Training

Hi Greg,

The flat hone head assembly by itself is $150.00, and yes the hand nut that you already have is all you need to hold the clipper wheel in place on the machine.

Looking ahead what additional diamond wheels does the well prepared sharpener
Keep on his bench?

Re: Fine Training

Greg,

Personally I use a 1000 grit diamond wheel for doing salon scissors that have a bevel edge (not a convex). I also use a 200 grit diamond wheel for doing knifes using the clamp with the knife setting that I showed you. The 200 grit diamond wheel is also good for removing heavy metal from industrial scissors that are badly damaged. I do have a 3000 grit diamond wheel that I experimented with and now I don't have much of a use for it like I thought I would, but it is great for training because it removes so little metal; so now as you know I call it my training wheel.

Re: Fine Training

I might add, that I originally bought the 3000 grit diamond wheel for finishing the edge on bevel edge beauty scissors, but after using it I found that the hard fiber buffing wheel puts a much sharper finished edge on these types of scissors same as it does on the grooming and barber scissors that I showed you how to sharpen.

I know you didn't want to learn every thing all at once since you are fairly close to me, you said you would rather come again after you absorb what you have already learned to master blunt cutting for groomers, barbers, and industrial scissors, so after you master what youhave already learned let me know when you are ready to learn beauty scissors and we can scedual your next session.
