Brothers Charles (Richard) born Belfast 1803 and Gilbert CAMPBELL born Belfast1806
Charles left Belfast in 1840 to find work as a coach builder in Manchester, England. He brought his wife Eliza and 5 children; a sixth child - Christopher was born around the time of the move with different records showing his birth place as Belfast and Manchester. The younger brother, Gilbert had previously moved to Birmingham and married Honour May (Mary) Wilson in 1831.
Later-20 June 1859, Gilbert and Honour's second child - Gilbert Thomas Campbell married his cousin - Sarah Matilda Campbell (fourth child of Charles and Eliza - and born 'Belfast')in Manchester. The proof for this connection is in the copy of the Marriage record for St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Ancoats. The Register is annotated "Dispensatione obtenta impedimentum Consinguinitate et secundo gradua" [a translation reads - 'A Dispensation was obtained in respect of an impediment of a blood relationship as first cousins'].
I have no record of Charles marrying Eliza, probably in Belfast; from the 1841 England Census, it would appear that Thomas - their first child was born 1825.
In addition, after many years of search, I have been unable to find the parents of Charles and Gilbert. For me, this has become a major brick wall. I still do not know whether I should be searching the Counties of Antrim or Down. It was only from the 1871 England Census that I had the information 'Belfast', previously it was simply - born 'I' or occasionally 'Ireland'. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
