Not sure that this will be of any help, my father's family were all from Roscrea, I visited the town in the 50s (1950s that is, not the 1850s) and since, in the 50s and maybe up to much more recently there was a Madden's shop in Rosemary Square which is at the top of Abbey Street (a street that runs near the R.C. church), so there were (had been) Maddens there, possibly living over the shop. If you ever use Google Earth / Street view, check out Rosemary Square (of course it's not a square, it's triangular, but this is Ireland), Maddens was the shop now showing as Quick Stop. Hope you are successful. If you happen across any Gantlys / Gantleys or Hannons in your line....we're related! Joe Gantly, Dublin
