Ryan Dans

I'm looking for any information on The Ryan Dans also known as the Ryan Bulls. They were from the Drombane Moyaliffe Upperchurch area. Ive been told there is connections to Bourkes,Harringtons and Longs.
Thanks.

Re: Ryan Dans

David as you are asking about "Ryan BULLS" it peaks my curiousity! My surname is Ryan and throughout the area we live our nickname is "Bull"; I ask myself constantly where does it come from? Will my curiousity be satisfied through you? I know that my paternal great-great-great-great Grandmother (MARY) Ryan came from County Carlow which they settled in Spaniards Bay Newfoundland in 1812 (we just hosted a bi-Centennial a month ago) because it was mentioned in her obituary when she died at 100 years old. Her husband was MATTHEW Ryan. By the way our only grandchild is named DAVID Ryan!

Re: Ryan Dans

Hi Michael, I'm very sorry to say i dont think there is a connection as i have info that indicates my Ryans lived in a particular area of Tipperary from the 18th Century. But as you maybe aware there are so many Ryans that its the nicknames that distinguish them. I'm sure there is a Carlow message board and it would definitely be worth posting something on that.
Best of luck
David.
