My wife Beckie and I visited the memorial over the Labor Day weekend. It\'s very peaceful, unlike what the Vets experienced, I\'m sure. I thank all Vets for our freedom, especially my uncles. Darold Niles, Wayne Niles, Darwin Niles, Wilton Niles, Carmen Niles. I watch war documentaries often. I\'m humbled by what I learn each time. I\'m lifted by bond of brotherhood they have even today, but saddened by how that\'s lost in todays society. |

It is a beautiful memorial that is all inclusive for all veterans of all wars and all races and faiths who fought for the freedom of U.S.A. and freedom of others world wide. I am very proud that I have a relatives listed on this memorial.  |

John Nelson Hoff, Civil War veteran is my great-grandfather. He was named John Nelson when he immigrated to the US, but changed his last name to John Nelson Hoff because he felt there were too many Nelsons when he settled with his father and sisters. He was full Norwegian. |
