I just got this information in an email. So if it has been posted I apologize. The LAFD heavy rescue is being made in a kit form. Italeri and 1/25. The model states and shows a Western Star chassis. I don't think this is accurate as the last one I remember was a Paccar model.
What's the poop on the Pierces? Are we talking chassis mechanical such as engine or trans or some other problems. Pierce's big selling point is always "Sole Source"......inquiring minds want to know??
well word on the street is that the pierces are off line more than on line, Thanks to Multi-plexing and poor cookie cutter workmanship. and they just received the last of the most recent 15 seagraves.. They are awesome the new Maurader II cab is so sweet!
Not a lot of problems with Pierces in the St. Louis area. Maybe it's an L.A. spec problem???
Nonetheless, I think Pierce builds a much better rig than E-One, Seagrave, ALF, Rosenbauer, etc. , just from comparing rigs to oneanother up at FDIC the past few years.

Well I used to think the same way JM until our pierce at our house started ending up in the shop monthly for everything from Pump probs to structural issues. We got a New seagrave and have had it for a couple years and I want to not drive anything else ever! they are so reliable and Strong the cabs are all stainless steel, Something I found out now other MFG offers, and No pump or anything probs the only thing it has had is routine maintanence. The pierce is just all Glamour anymore and not performance, Plus we have a few Quantums at our houses that were recalled and the Seagraves are still in service.. Our dept will never buy another Pierce... But Everyone is entitled to there opinion, and that is what is Great bout America!
