Ladder truck question

Today I saw TV footage that showed a 100' ladder fully extended. It looked as though there was some sort of illuminated green rod that went up the entire length of the ladder. This was a fairly new Pierce truck so I'm wondering if anyone has this or can tell me more about it.

Thx.

Re: Ladder truck question

late model Pierce ladders have this optional feature - LED lighting up the bottom inside corner of both ladder rail section in red, blue, green or white. There are also glow-in-the-dark rung covers. Our 2009 100' tower ladder has both the LED lighting and rung covers - it's pretty striking to see at night.

Not our truck, but a great shot of the feature here:

Re: Ladder truck question

Thanks dpetersen!

That is exactly what I saw. Incidentally, I did see the footage in both day and night. It was VERY cool!

Re: Ladder truck question

Very nice. Neat idea. Leave it Pierce...wonder who will copy it first?

Re: Ladder truck question

I believe ALF was the 1st to offer the Ladder lighting. But,Seagrave had it in 2007.(Gettysburg,PA.)

Re: Ladder truck question

It's now part of the NFPA standard for aerial apparatus. (I think)

Re: Ladder truck question

Hey dpeterson -

If you have the opportunity and can get your hands on a digital camera, do you think you could snap some shots of your ladder trunk with the LED ladder lights and post them here?

Jeff Webster can tell you how to do it. It involves simple HTML (I think).

Or perhaps, if I may be so bold, you could email them to Jeff W. and he could post them.

Wadoya say?
