We have to report sadly that our member Itai Gil passed away after being with an artificial heart for some years and waiting for a heart transplantation. He was 57 years old.

I am just wondering if Itai Gil was in any way related to the late Eli Gil, my teacher when I was in Aliat Noar in Matzuva 1949 - 1951? I understand that Eli passed away around 1972 but he had a son, a little boy named Yair. Could Itai have been his brother?

Eli was a wonderful teacher and educator and he was a great human being; I owe my love of Israel largely to him. Incidentally, what happened to Eliahu "hamasger"? He was my boss in the masgeria for the half days we were working.

I left Matzuva in 1951 and Israel in 1956 but I still have very fond memories of the place. Thank you.
