We stayed at Anne's Place last September and had an excellent experience. The house was clean and the grounds were beautiful. It was only a 30 minute train ride into Rome but it was nice to get away from the city at night. Anne was very gracious and accomodating. She helped us buy train tickets to Rome and was very helpful with directions. We are already planning a trip back to Anne's! |

Thank you both, arriving after a long day of site seeing and traveling from the south Anne's Place afforded us not only wonderful accommodations but warm hospitality and pleasant conversation. You made us feel comfortable in your home and helped us find our way to an excellent dinner in town. The directions you provided for our drive into Rome the next morning were very helpful. We cannot recommend your fine Bed and Breakfast highly enough!! We were sorry we had such a short time with you. Hopefully next time will be longer. |

Thank you for a lovely weekend. Having Rome so close but yet being in the heart of the countryside was ideal. We came home feeling that we had seen the sights but yet completely unwound in the space of 3 days. Most of all, thank you for your hospitality and 'tourist' advice - all made for a great weekend break'. Hello to the dogs! Rozanne and Kev |

Dear Anne and David, Now that we have arrived home and have rested we would like to sign your guest book. Anne's Place to us it was a wonderful complement to our visit to Rome. The serenity of the countryside, the spacious comfort the genuine friendly care that you provided was much appreciated. A needed respite to the hustle and bustle of Rome. A perfect balance which we highly recommend. History is great but we feel it was you who made it real for us. We will never forget Palestrina nor Millie, Minnie, and the gang who welcomed us with tails awagging. Cheers! Gil and Lilly Hamilton, Ontario Canada (June 2004) |

Stayed at Anne's Place in March when it was still cold. But the stay at your place was the highlight on our trip to Italy. It could not be any better. This is absolutely perfect. Thank you again for everything. More than 5 stars, not countable anymore. Give a caress to the cat who stayed with us during the night and we hope that the black dog (Duster?) (my favourite) is still fine and even better. We will surely return. Andrea and Jens ![]() |

We found ‘Anne’s Place’ on this first class website, spent a week there in mid June and didn’t want to leave. Rooms are large, airy, well appointed, spotlessly clean and the beds are very comfortable. All bedrooms have private bathrooms and one has a large balcony. Continental breakfast is good and dinner is excellent – gourmet quality, well presented and substantial. Many of the vegetables are home grown. [Local wine is included and a small, well-chosen range of other wines is available at very reasonable prices.] David is the chef and, in my view, ought to be writing a cook-book. There is a lounge for common use with a good range of guide books, novels, dictionaries, maps, CDs, videos and an ‘honesty’ bar. Set in about an acre of olive and nut trees, it has a large patio offering beautiful views over the hills in the distance and plenty of parking for cars. There are also five well-kept, friendly dogs which are excluded from the house and patio on request. The heart and soul of this gem of a B&B is Anne Palmer herself who bubbles her Geordie-Irish bonhomie through every part of the enterprise. Nothing is too much trouble for her. She took us into Palestrina and to the railway station at Zagarolo whenever we asked and met us again at the end of the day when we called on our mobile. Mealtimes were organised according to our itinerary and she quickly got to know our needs and interests. She gave us excellent advice on sites, routes, transport services, car hire and provided transport to Ciampino, Pompeii and Vesuvius at very reasonable prices. She smiles – and talks – wherever she goes yet has the happy knack of not intruding. We felt very much at home throughout our stay. All this in the depths of a cultural paradise. Rome is only 24 minutes away by train and a €6 day ticket will cover the return journey plus limitless rides on the underground and buses. Within 45 minutes’ drive, there is a wealth of other treasures to see: Palestrina [20 min walk] hangs from a hillside round a huge Roman sanctuary below an excellent museum. Tivoli has the magnificent remains of Hadrian’s villa, plus Castillo d’Este the wonderful early Renaissance garden that became a model for Europe. Nemi is a medieval gem set above a volcanic lake. Frascati, the best place in the area to drink wine and eat porchetta, especially on Saturday when the whole town promenades around the squares and backstreets with family and friends. Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius are about 2½ hours away but well worth the effort of an early start. If you can get four to share the cost, Anne will take you there for €42.50 per person. A snip! We can’t wait to get back. |
